Other industry players simply refer to them as "USB 3.2 Gen 1" or "USB 3.2 Gen 2".
Innovation of USB 3.2 Gen 2x2
Nearly a decade after the release of the second-generation USB interface, USB technology made even greater strides with the introduction of USB 3.2 2x2 in 2017. At this point, USB 3.2 established three distinct versions, each with its unique name and meaning.
With the advent of USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, the industry's mainstream USB-A interface has gradually been replaced by USB-C. Since USB-C supports higher data transfer speeds and can charge other peripheral devices more quickly, it has naturally become the primary interface for USB 3.2 Gen 2x2.

The next major advancement in USB technology is USB4. It offers a data transfer speed of 40Gbit/s, is compatible with Thunderbolt 3, and only supports USB-C connectors or ports. USB4 increases bandwidth and aims to integrate the USB-C connector ecosystem, minimizing user confusion.
